Well, Maybe Fourteen. . .
In my mind, today is “Not My President’s Day”
With that in mind, tomorrow I’ll be requesting an in-person meeting with my Congressman, Ken Calvert (R). After all, he should be available since Congress is out of session for the next two weeks. By the way, of the 20 working days this month, Congress will only be working 9. Nice work if you can get it, right?
I've compiled a list of 14 questions, some of which I’ll share below. As I said, I’m planning to call his office tomorrow. If I can’t secure an in-person meeting, or at least a phone call before Congress re-convenes,
I’ll send my questions via Certified Mail with Return Receipt.
I’ll be sure to keep you updated as things progress. Now, here are some of the questions:
Are you in favor of DOGE? Why or why not?
Are you in favor of non-elected persons or those not confirmed by Congress having unrestricted access to the financial, medical, and legal information of every American?
What is your perspective on the mass layoffs in the civil service sector, including the Justice Department, the VA, FEMA, and FAA, and are you in favor of the current administration deleting the website for the CDC?
How do you plan to vote on extending tax breaks for the wealthiest Americans?
During your campaign were you aware of Project 2025, did you have access to it and have you read it in its entirety?
Have you ever proposed a bill (stand-alone bill) in Congress that would lower the tax rate for middle-and low-income Americans? If not, why?
Have you shared any information or statistics about your constituents in District 41 with the architects of Project 2025 or DOGE?
I have 14 questions in all.
I plan to wait three weeks after I send my letter (and let’s be real, I’m not expecting a meeting or a call). If I haven’t received any response by then, I plan to write a letter to the Desert Sun outlining my efforts. And for those who know me, I’m not above showing up unannounced at his office. At least I’ll have made the effort.
