IT'S TIME TO GET LOUD!
Louder Than the Chaos
There’s a blanket of melancholy shrouding America right now. No one’s really talking about it, but I feel it. And I hear it, especially in the quiet resignation in people’s voices when they talk about their future, or the future.
In my lifetime, this country has never elected a President, twice, who inherited a booming economy and then took a sledgehammer to it. And not by accident. By choice.
We’ve never elected a convicted felon.
Never elected a sex offender.
Never elected a rabid racist.
And certainly never elected someone who is all three.
We’ve never had a President so stuffed with appalling personal traits, or so openly delighted by the suffering of others. One who mocks the helpless, publicly, and draws pride from it.
For trump, cruelty is a competitive sport.
Because of this one man, and the voters who trusted him,
America is unraveling.
Academically.
Scientifically.
Socially.
I wonder: would even a fraction of his voters admit their part in this?
We are, quite literally, stuck with his madness, and in his madness.
We’re stuck with it because:
His morbid obesity doesn’t appear to be taking a physical toll that would remove him from office.
No one is invoking the 25th Amendment, and they won’t, as long as VP Vance and the Republicans control both the House and the Senate.
And ultimately, he is entitled to serve four full years under the Constitution, no matter how damaging those years may be.
We’re also stuck in his madness because:
He has turned America into a twisted version of Oz, an illusion of order, while he operates behind closed doors, manipulating the lives of everyday Americans.
He treats the U.S. economy as if it exists solely for his gain or vengeance, using policy decisions to reward allies and punish perceived enemies.
Most concerning, in my opinion, is how he has systematically weakened our Intelligence community and eroded parts of our military leadership. These purges have left us increasingly vulnerable to external threats, at a time when global instability is rising.
Now, is it a wonder that America is melancholy?
What to do, what to do.
